Public toilets where a man was stabbed to death last month could be demolished early.
Elmbridge council opposition leader Chris Sadler has called for the toilets - which are a popular gay cruising spot - to be pulled down and their replacement built early.
The block is slated for replacement in 2010 with a new café and larger, safer public toilet.
Conservative councilor Roy Taylor said the council was considering what could be done.
He said the council was talking to police about the issue and did not rule out starting work early.
Peter Jeffrey Akers, 50, died after being stabbed at the public toilet near Walton Bridge on Tuesday, February 19.
Mr Akers, from Wallington, had a male partner who he had been living with for 22 years.
A postmortem examination held at the Royal Surrey County Hospital revealed the cause of death as a single stab wound to the back.
- Unemployed Mark Malone, 29, of Clements Road, Walton, has been remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey charged with murder on June 13.
