A man found dead in his Carshalton home has been named by neighbours as Mick McGrath.

Police have launched a murder investigation after discovering his body at 9.20am yesterday at a maisonette in Shaftesbury Road.

A neighbour called officers after finding Mr McGrath's front door open.

Mr McGrath, believed to be 50, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A postmortem examination is due to take place.

Officers say they believe Mr McGrath was last seen yesterday afternoon and are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in Shaftesbury Road.
