A man who died in Waddon at the weekend was hit on the head with a meat cleaver and stabbed in the liver, a court has heard.
Two brothers appeared at Croydon Magistrates' Court this morning charged with the murder of 23-year-old Steven Jones.
Steven, from Thomson Crescent, Waddon, died outside his house on Saturday evening after being knifed in the head with a meat cleaver and stabbed in the liver with a carving knife.
Dad-of-three Nicholas Monkton, 28, from Thomson Crescent, and Lee Monkton, from Norbury Crescent, Norbury, 19, were remanded in custody until the next hearing at the Old Bailey on November 28.
Police arrested the brothers on Monday morning after they surrendered themselves at Croydon police station.
Friends and family were at the hearing to see the pair, who were dressed in jeans and t-shirts, speak only to confirm their names and addresses after failing to prevent their addresses from being read out in court.
An application for bail was refused by District Judge Anthony Callaway, despite a surety of £25,000 being offered by the defendents' dad.
A third man, aged 26, has been bailed to return to a south London police station on October 3, pending further inquiries
