Composting is a piece of cake for Wandsworth firm
The car cake was inedible after days under the studio lights.
The car cake was inedible after days under the studio lights.

A Wandsworth business had its cake but didn't eat it, when it was asked to dispose of a six foot 'car' created for a TV ad.

Waste collection company Any Junk? disposed of a two tonne Skoda Fabia cake, which was unfit for consumption after filming because of the effects of studio lighting.

The ad sees a team of bakers creating the giant treat with a combination of sponge, chocolate, jelly and icing sugar.

The cake was completely recycled as compost after the shoot and will be used as fertiliser on local allotments.

Any Junk? diverts more than 40 per cent of what it collects from landfill and has won numerous green awards for its recycling efforts.

Jason Mohr, founder of Any Junk?, which collected the car from Shepperton Studios, said: "The Skoda cake was enormous. Definitely the largest item of food we've ever been asked to junk."
