Airport operator BAA is to reveal its contingency plans for the busy Easter break this week.

The authority's plan is expected to outline how it will deal with a combination of new baggage regulations, high passenger numbers and tighter security requirements over the break and in the future.

The operator is also battling with the Civil Aviation Authority about how much it can charge airlines to use Heathrow and Gatwick.

On Sunday, passengers at Gatwick were delayed for hours after a dip in power shut down check-in computers and luggage conveyors.

Escalators and lifts were put out of action at 8am and computer systems failed for more than 10 minutes.

By yesterday afternoon, the airport reported all systems were up and running at the terminal, which serves airlines including Easyjet, Continental and Virgin.

Up to 32,000 passengers were expected to arrive and depart at both terminals during the day.

No delays were reported this morning on the airport's website.
