CROYDON RIOTS: Looter's relative blames lack of jobs
A relative of a rioter has said a lack of job opportunities contributed towards a number of young people rioting last summer.
Rochele, 17, from Broad Green, said a member of her family was jailed after taking part in the riots. She is confident they won’t re-offend.
She said: "There needs to be more job opportunities for young people. I had a family member who went to jail for getting involved in the riots last year. "If they had more job opportunities then they would have been kept occupied.
"We were all upset by it as they were part of my family. I don’t think they will reoffend. But I know one person who said prison was like Disneyland behind bars compared to the outside world.
"When people come out from prison they can’t find a job so it is about rehabilitation and helping young people who have made mistakes back into work."
