On the 28th August 2014 I will be taking the Machame route to the summit of Kilimanjaro.

The tallest freestanding mountain in the world, and the 'heart of Africa' stands at 5, 895m high, taking six days to climb.

During the climb each of us will be pushed to our limits, as the temperatures fluctuate between 21-27 degrees at the base of the mountain to -7--29 at the summit, and we experience up to 15 hours of hiking per day.

I have chosen to do this challenge for The Meningitis Research Foundation, a wonderful, and deserving charity that not only tirelessly searches for improved methods of treatment, and prevention, but also provides ongoing support for the families and friends of those affected.- Lhiane Jenner (Aged 20)

On the 27th July 2014 I will be going with Girlguiding Uk for two weeks to the isolated village of Kabubbu, Africa. I will be working alongside the Quicken trust which is a Sussex based charity.

I will be engaging in physical tasks such as the building and decorating of new housing, health clinics, etc, as well as emotional tasks such as working closely with orphans and underprivileged families.

We will be spending a large portion of our time in the school, working one-to-one with the children on tasks such as their English, maths and reading skills.
