Robbers armed with a rubber mallet attacked an employee of a Weybridge business before running off in a failed burglary attempt.
Three men, one armed with the mallet, drove a white van into the car park of the business premises in Brooklands Road yesterday.
They forced open the front door and confronted two members of staff inside.
One member of staff was told to lie on the floor.
The other was chased into the car park but escaped after jumping over a hedge and running down the road.
The remaining employee was beaten with the mallet causing severe bruising to his left hand.
The gang then left without taking any property.
The first man is described as black, of medium build, 5ft 11in, wearing a dark coloured hooded top. One of the other men was wearing a white hooded coat. Anyone with information should call Detective Constable Ashley Mullem at Staines CID on 0845 125 2222 quoting A/07/30680, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
