Unemployed young people are being invited to take part in a free pre-apprenticeship scheme by Merton Council in a bid to help them into work.
The scheme aims to support 19 to 4 year olds who are not in education and who have been unemployed for at least six months.
The eight week course develops candidates’ skills by helping them gain qualifications in Work Skills, First Aid and Information and Communications Technology.
Students will also benefit from CV workshops, job search sessions and visits from guest speakers.
Councillor Martin Whelton, cabinet member for education, said: "With high levels of unemployment amongst young people, it is great to see a course that takes a realistic approach to preparing its students for the work place."
Merton Adult Education’s pre-apprenticeship scheme runs every twelve weeks with the next course starting in November.
