It's time to dig out your mittens, scarves and winter coats as Merton prepares to play host to two explosive firework displays.

Merton Council will be organising two events this Guy Fawkes night - one at Wimbledon Park on November 5, and another at Morden Park on November 3.

Gates will open at 5.15pm with both events featuring two displays.

Younger audiences will be able to enjoy a bonfire being lit at 6.15pm followed by a firework display at 6.45pm, while a second bonfire will be lit at 8.15pm followed by a second display at 8.30pm.

Fairground games, stalls and refreshments will be open until 10pm.

Displays will go ahead whatever the weather.

The public are not permitted to bring any fireworks, alcohol or dogs into the parks.

Tickets will be available on the night.

Nearby, a charity fireworks display will be held in Carshalton on Saturday, November 3, in Carshalton Park on Ruskin Road.

The event is organised by the Wallington and Carshalton Round Table who have been putting on an annual fireworks display in the area for 55 years.

Gates open at 5pm with a fireworks display at 7pm and a bonfire lit at 7.30pm.

All profits will be donated to local charities.
