A toddler who was diagnosed with a brain tumour at just eight months has inspired his family to scale three mountain peaks in just 24 hours.

Charlie Cox, from Morden, now 16 months, was diagnosed in 2011 after he started having seizures which continued despite medication.

Diagnosed with a brain tumour, Charlie underwent an eight hour operation in May 2011 to remove the tumour and was in hospital for five days.

His mother, Kirsty Court, 25, said: "Most of the time I have been very positive - I have had to be strong for Charlie. The only time I broke down throughout this roller-coaster was the day before the operation."

His struggle has inspired five members of his family to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research UK by attempting to climb the three highest peaks of England, Scotland and Wales; Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Mount Snowdon, in just 24 hours.

Ms Court said: "We really want to do something for Brain Tumour Research because of the terrible lack of funding into research for a disease which kills more children and people under the age of 40 than any other cancer."
