A Wimbledon schoolboy’s dreams really will come true this Christmas after landing a west end role in the children’s classic, The Snowman.

Joe Sheridan, 9, of Queensmere Road in Wimbledon, will be playing the part of James who embarks on a magical adventure flying through the night sky with his very own snowman.

He said: "I never imagined in a million years, when my mum used to look at the book with me, that one day I would be playing the part of James."

But Joe, who attends The Players Academy Performing Arts School in Raynes Park, is no stranger to the stage.

He has already performed as a Munchkin in the West End version of The Wizard of Oz, appeared alongside legendary theatre giant Tommy Steele in Scrooge, and taken on parts in Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat, Evita and Jekyll and Hyde.

His mum Emma said: "About five years ago he started attending drama classes, and that is what he loves to do.

"In fact he is always singing and dancing about the house and I have to tell him to please keep the noise down."
