The Big Brew Up was held at The Royal Homes, Queen Alexandra Court in St Mary’s Road and was opened by the mayor of Merton, Councillor David Williams.

The SSAFA Forces Help event, held at venues across the UK, is in its 15th year and raises funds to provide financial practical and emotional support for past and present armed forces personnel.

This year, the Wimbledon event also raised funds for the residents of Queen Alexandra Court which houses family members of retired officers or warrant officers.

Donations for raffle prizes includes two tickets for a West End show, which were given by lyricist Tim Rice.
