Families are invited to plant a tree for every Londoner as part of a new scheme to make London greener.

London Wildlife Trust will run free hands-on events at sites around London, where residents will be taught how to grow a tree from seed.

The RE:LEAF programme, in collaboration with Mayor of London Boris Johnson, aims to increase the city’s tree cover from 20 per cent to 25 per cent by 2025.

The Mayor said: “Planting more trees is an important way to make our city more attractive for folk to live in and enticing for businesses to set roots down in.

“These family friendly events are a great way to help your local community become leafier.”
