A former employee of a company that ran adventure playgrounds in Lambeth has appeared in court accused of sexually assaulting a child.
Romero Joseph, 26, of Alexandra Road, Wimbledon, is charged with intentionally touching a girl aged under 13.
The case was committed to Inner London Crown Court on Sept 28 and Mr Joseph was remanded in custody.
Mr Joesph, who appeared by video link at Tower Bridge Magistrates' Court on Friday, was arrested on August 2 on Norwood High Street.
One week after he was charged, the council terminated its contract with his employer Lambeth Play Association because it failed to "follow proper employment procedures".
The two incidents are not connected and there is no suggestion a child at any Lambeth playground was affected.
Lambeth Play Association could not be reached to confirm when Mr Joseph left the company.
In a statement on its website, it said police had assured them the alleged offence was not related to the workplace.
The statement said: "Certain of our safeguarding procedures were not recorded and signed off in accordance with the requirements of our contracts with Lambeth.
"It is these lapses that have been cited as the reason for the termination of the contracts."
