A band of AFC Wimbledon fans from a Colliers Wood day centre have launched their own unique take on a classic SW19 football song.

The Big Blast Band, which includes a group of twelve people with learning disabilities from the High Path Day Centre, have released their single ‘We Are Wimbledon’, which was released on Monday, August 27.

The Dons teamed up with the band to record the song, under the guidance of Elisabeth Wigly from Merton Music Foundation and John Merriman from Crown Lane Studios.

The players on the single include Sammy Moore, Luke Moore, Jack Midson, Byron Harrison and Christian Jolley.

They debuted the single in a half-time performance during recent match between the Dons and Burton Albion at Kingsmeadow.

And next month, an album will be released consisting of new songs written by AFC Wimbledon fans, alongside a host of old favourites.

An AFC Wimbledon spokesman said: "AFC Wimbledon are proud to welcome the High Path ‘Super Dons’ to their community, and the whole project serves as an inspirational testimony to the great things that can happen when a community joins together for positivity."
