A school girl is cutting her hair to make a wig for children with hairloss and to raise money for St Raphael’s Hospice.

Hannah Beckett, 11, from Sutton is about to start Glenthorne High School and decided to start with a new hair-do.

Instead of popping in to her local hairdressers, the youngster who has only ever had her hair trimmed a small amount, decided she would do it for a good cause.

The hair will be given to the Little Princess Trust which provides real hair wigs for children suffering from hair loss.

She will also be fundraising for St Raphael’s Hospice as part of the Give Your Quid campaign.

She said: "I’m having a foot of my hair taken off for St Raphael’s and the Little Princess charity.

"I thought of the little kids and if they have no hair they might be embarrassed to go out.

"My hairdresser said it was at least 2ft long.

"I’ve been around my nan - she had breast cancer and my granddad had cancer and a friends boyfriend had cancer and he passed away a few years ago."

Hannah will have her hair chopped off on September 7 at 4pm at the St Raphael’s Hospice shop in Rosehill and there will be a collection buckets for St Raphael's on the day.

Sponsorship forms are currently available in the hospice shop as well as Pets Corner in Rosehill.
