A Wimbledon post box has been painted gold in honour of Sophie Hosking's Olympic win.

For every Team GB gold medal won at this year's Olympic and Paralympic Games, Royal Mail will paint one of their iconic red post boxes gold in the home town of its winnig athlete.

A post box outside department store Elys in Wimbledon has already been painted gold in honour of Wimbledon born rower Sophie Hosking.

Royal Mail have said the gold boxes will be repainted in the traditional red, which has been the standard colour of UK post boxes since 1874, in "due course".

Commemorative stamps have also been issued to celebrate each Team GB gold medal win.

Royal mail should leave these Gold Post Boxes Gold. Dont change them back to Red, That way people can visit all the Gold Post Boxes and get pictures taken with them. I am sad to learn that somebody has grafitied the Gold Post Box already that was done for Jessica Ennis
