Two Fat ladies return to Wimbledon
A popular statue affectionately dubbed "the two fat ladies" returned to Wimbledon this week.
The 8ft high bronze sculpture was moved from its normal location outside the Rotunda entrance next to Wimbledon station earlier this year when work began to the station forecourt, prompting concern it had been permanently removed.
The sculpture, created by Andre Wallace, was unveiled at the opening of Centre Court Shopping Centre, in September 1992.
The mayor of Merton, Councillor David Williams, rededicated the sculpture in this, its 20th anniversary year, on June 12.
Samantha Brown, marketing manager at Centre Court Shopping Centre said: "We’re thrilled to have the ladies back where they belong.
"We've had a lot of inquiries from shoppers during their absence, concerned that they had gone for good, but we would never have let that happen."
