A multi-cuisine restaurant is hoping for a fresh start by rebranding itself and donating £1 from every meal to charity.

Jimmy’s World Bar and Grill, in Wimbledon Broadway, officially unveiled its new look after eschewing its previous name of Jimmy Spices.

Jimmy Spices was fined £10,000 by Wimbledon Magistrates Court after Merton Council’s environmental health officers prosecuted the owners for food hygiene offences dating back to March 2011.

East and West Restaurants Ltd, the company which own Jimmy Spice’s, pleaded guilty to five offences after the officers discovered a serious mouse infestation in two food storerooms above the restaurant.

As well as promoting a new image, the restaurant has been enlarged to 11,000 sq ft and will seat 350 customers over lunch and dinner sittings for two separate prices.

The restaurant’s manager, Rajesh Selvaraju, said the restaurant would create 20 new jobs in Wimbledon in addition to the existing 40 members of staff.

Mr Selvaraju said: "We are keen to differentiate lunch and dinner.

“At lunch we offer a huge variety of dishes for a set price but our evening service is even larger, which is appropriately reflected in the price.

“Food is freshly prepared in the open kitchen or at the live stations for customers to tailor their dish to suit their needs."

The restaurant said it will donate £1 from every meal from March 29 to a charity of their choice.
