A murder investigation has been launched after a man was fatally stabbed following a fight at a community centre.
Officers were called to The New Horizon Centre, in South Lodge Avenue, Pollards Hill, Mitcham at about 11.40pm on Saturday.
They discovered a 28-year-old suffering stab wounds who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem examination has been arranged for Monday at St Georges Hospital.
Officers believe they know who the name of the dead man and next of kin have been informed but formal identification is yet to take place.
An incident room has opened in Lewisham under Detective Chief Inspector Mark Dunne from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command.
DCI Dunne said: "I am appealing to any one who was in or around the South Lodge Avenue area, and who may have seen or heard anything around the time of the incident on Saturday night to call our Incident Room."

There have been no arrests so far.
