Libraries will be the focus of Black History Month in Merton holding events including themed film screenings and African craft workshops.

The celebration of black culture runs throughout October with Caribbean food served up in Morden library, films shown in Pollards Hill and craft sessions across the borough.

Merton Council’s cabinet member for community and culture, Councillor Martin Whelton, said: “Merton is a diverse community and Black History Month celebrates the great contributions black people make to our community.

“A range of events for all residents will take place throughout October and we hope all residents will come along and learn more.”
