Flanked by hundreds of scantily-clad women from across the world, a little-known Colliers Wood musician is aiming to take the UK charts by storm.

More than 2,500 women threw themselves at Jonathan Haselden when the 28-year-old launched a Facebook appeal for wannabe pop stars to appear in the video to his song, I am Miss Pretty.

Over the weekend, girls from America, Iran and even Uzebekistan appeared in the shoot produced for free by the same team making hit records for the likes of the Sugarbabes, Keane and Neo.

Speaking from his flat in Colliers Wood High Street, he said: “It’s just been fantastic. In some ways I can understand the excitement this has generated but at the same time it’s a little overwhelming.

“You just have to look at how Rage Against The Machine knocked Simon Cowell’s act off the Christmas No 1 spot to see how people are getting fed up with the way music is being churned out by big record labels.

“Everyone involved has supported the idea of getting behind an unsigned person and becoming part of the whole thing.”

Through pictures and videos posted on his Facebook site Mr Haselden was able to audition girls to appear in the video.

But he still wants more girls to come forward and be part of a select few to make it on to the single’s cover.

Mr Haselden has already had success using an online community to generate excitement about his music.

In 2008, he made headlines by becoming the world’s first artist to stream a live gig on Facebook, attracting more than 10,000 viewers.
