For some it is considered a rite of passage to take your first dip in one of London's lidos.

For Lambeth residents the Brockwell Lido in Brockwell Park is the place to do it.

Now, the Lido has made it into the Time Out '1,000 Things to do in London' guide, alongside other treasures like the Crystal Palace Dinosaurs, Streatham Common and the Streatham Ice Arena.

Paul Maier of Fusion Lifestyle, which runs the lido, said: "The Time Out list is a fantastic guide - it's all done independently so we had no inkling we were in the running for a listing and we're thrilled to be included."

The Grade II-listed Crystal Palace Dinosaurs in Crystal Palace Park opened in 1854 and were the world’s first attempt at a life size dinosaur replica park.

Streatham Ice Arena also rates as a place to go for year round indoor ice-skating.

It is in good company, sharing column inches with Alexandra Palace, where Robbie Williams filmed his video for She’s the One.

For those who enjoy the pub and a game of chess, the Brixton Bar & Grill in Atlantic Road pub chess night gets a mention as a "chess lovers'" pub, with plenty of boards stashed behind the bar.
