More than 500 worshippers met local politicians at the Darul Amaan Trust Mosque in Colliers Wood last week.
Wimbledon MP Stephen Hammond and London MEP Syed Kamall visited the mosque in Merton High Street to discuss local and national issues.
Topics discussed included crime, terrorism, unemployment and the families of soldiers in Afghanistan.
Hosted by Nazrul Islam, senior trustee and chairman, the two men learned about the mosque’s history, activities and concerns.
Mr Islam said: “The most important points of discussion were regarding car parking each Friday during Jumah time and also on the two Eid days in the year.
“The MP Mr Hammond listened very carefully and sympathetically and expressed his support and said he will try to do something about it.”
During the visit, Mr Kamall joined in a Jumah prayer and gave a short speech to worshippers.
