Daring St Helier Hospital nurse Janice Carter to leap from a plane

A ward nurse from St Helier Hospital is planning to skydive for a local hospice in her fifth fundraising event.

Janice Carter hopes to raise £1000 for St. Raphael’s Hospice having already raised £5,000 single-handedly for various cancer charities. Janice, 51, explained that working in a hospital has encouraged her fundraising.

She said: “At St Helier I see a lot of people suffering from cancer and I think that if you can help them in any way then you should.

"I’m giving blood today because I think that it doesn’t hurt to help others.”

Janice has previously raised money by taking part in a 60k walk, the moon walk and a fire walk. She also raised £1,000 for Myeloma UK, a bone cancer charity, for shaving her head.

St Raphael’s Hospice offers free care to those facing life-threatening illness living in the boroughs of Merton and Sutton.
