A cat owner has been reunited with her feline friend thanks to a purrr-fect plan.

Rachel Goswell was heartbroken when seven-month-old Bert went missing in Morden last week.

She put up posters in local streets and shops, posted pleas for help on the internet and put 300 leaflets through her neighbours’ letterboxes after the disappearance near Missenden Gardens and Leominster Road last Thursday.

But it wasn’t until she dusted down an unusual recovery method she had seen on the internet that her cat came back.

She scattered vacuum cleaner dust in the street outside her house, a plan recommended on a lost cat website.

The scheme was enough to coax the kitty back home.

On Saturday Ms Goswell reported: “Bert rolled in at 4am this morning and purred for 3 hours non-stop. He looks fine.”
