Lambeth is UK's teenage abortion capital

Lambeth is the country's teenage abortion capital, according to latest figures.

Information released by health ministers showed that more than 17,000 abortions were carried out nationally on women under 18 last year.

South London showed the highest regional concentration of terminations, with Lambeth coming out on top. This borough had the equivalent of one in 23 girls having an abortion in a year.

The figures show how the borough has overtaken Southwark, which came top of the list in 2006.
