A Wimbledon inventor and mum of three boys found an ingenious way to turn their muddy boots into a money-spinner.

Cary Marsh’s Bootclaw, designed to get mud out from between football boot studs, is now available through Amazon and Sports Direct.

The nervous mum pitched the idea on Channel 4 show Buy It Now to resounding success.

She said: “It was absolutely terrifying watching the screen go back and knowing I only had one shot at it.

“Luckily I held my nerve, the audience and buyers liked what they saw and I got the orders.

“The product is doing really well on Amazon and we’ve recently got it into Sports Direct. Next I want to take the Bootclaw global.”

Wimbledon Times:

Bootclaw was bought by 20 of the 100 shoppers in the studio, followed by a whopping order of 5,000 units from CEO of JML Direct, Ken Daly, with a retail sales value of over £80,000.

Cary successfully crowdfunded Bootclaw on Kickstarter in November 2015.

She is a manufacturing engineering graduate from the University of Nottingham and regularly speaks as a STEM ambassador to get more girls interested in science and technology.

According to Channel 4 Commissioning Editor Tim Hancock, Buy It Now, “speaks to our viewers’ love of regular people doing extraordinary things”.

“We can’t wait to see what the British public have been tinkering away on in their garden sheds,” he added.

The show airs weekdays at 5.30pm on Channel 4 for the next six weeks and is also available online and on demand.
