A primary school place has been offered to every parent in Merton with a child starting in September.
This year, more than 2,500 children from Merton applied for a primary school place.
Of this number of admission:
• Over 96% per cent of children are due to start primary school in Merton this September were offered a place at one of their preferred schools.
• 83.3% of children in Merton were offered a place at their parent’s first choice of school and increase from 80.8% last year.
• 92.7 % of children in Merton were allocated a place in one of their top three schools, up from 90.9% last year.
Merton Council’s Acting Director of Children, Schools and Families, Jane McSherry said: “As with the past 3 years, we are delighted to be able to provide a primary school place for every child across Merton.
“With 90% of the borough’s primary schools rated ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted, children will be getting the best start for their education. We are very much look forward to welcoming new reception children to our schools in September.”
