A Raynes Park woman has been chosen to represent England at the World Grooming Championships.

Cheryl Howard, who owns Le Chien dog groomers in Grand Drive, will be one of the four members to Groom Team England, competing at home and abroad in the pure breed scissor group.

Her selection follows successes over the past five years, including a gold in the champions’ class and best groomed dog in show at Premier Groom 2015.

A year earlier, she won the pure breed scissor class and a special award from Groom Team England.

Cheryl said representing England is the ‘ultimate achievement’ in her grooming career.

She said: “I’m still grinning from ear to ear and probably shall continue for a while yet.”

Cheryl noted that the key to be a successful groomer ‘is not just about going to competitions’.

She said: “It is about my every day clients who come to me on a regular basis and trust that their dogs will be cared for and given the love and attention they deserve.”
