For most of the year, heading into a police station to sit in a cell would not be a desirable scenario - but today it was.
Wimbledon Police Station hosted a one-off pop-up Santa's grotto as part of the Bobble Hat Live Advent Calendar.
A humorous post on their Facebook and twitter page said: "White, portly male arrested for Elf and safety issues and parking without undue care and attention on residents roofs.”
They added: “During a routine traffic stop, PC Kringle and PCSO Nicholas, stopped a portly make, age unknown for apparently drinking sherry at the reigns of his vehicle.
“After claiming it was merely ‘milk and cookies’ the PCs asked for his driving documents to be produced. The driver who cannot be named for legal reasons, said ‘Ho Ho Ho’ repeatedly during the stop.”
Families were been invited to attend Wimbledon Police station cell 3 for the visiting hours between 4pm and 5pm.
