Morden's Christmas lights will go on once again this week and the street party is set to be bigger than ever.

The festivities start in Crown Lane from 4pm on Friday (December 1) and attendees can expect a stage with live music, games, competitions, hot drinks and giveaways until the Christmas lights and tree are switched on at 5.20pm.

Immediately after the party, Morden businesses will hold their annual Christmas meal, to be held at Ganley’s Irish Bar, where the business community will enjoy food and drink together in a networking event.

Now in its sixth year, Light up Morden promises to be bigger and better than ever, with the promise of “some secret things.”

John Merriman, coordinator at Love Morden said: “This year now feels like the event has momentum, this year is the biggest take up from businesses wanting to be involved.

“This is a chance for residents to give something back to the community and businesses are now seeing the potential in our town.

“Last year one business put two grand into some fireworks and it was so good that people were in tears of joy.”
