Plans to demolish an office block in Colliers Wood and replace it with seven floors of shops, offices, homes and 'community space' have been submitted to Merton Council.

Developer The Mesari Group hopes to transform the plot on the corner of Western Road and Christchurch Road on the boundary of Colliers Wood town centre.

Its plans include ground floor retail, office and community space as well as landscaping and cycle parking for 30 bikes.

They also include 18 one, two and three-bedroom flats.

Mesari spokesman Nick Manek said: “The Mesari Group is really excited about the project as we believe it acts as a landmark when entering Colliers Wood town centre and will greatly improve the local surroundings.

“The development has been sympathetically designed to reflect the industrial heritage of Colliers Wood and the apartments are a mixture of 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms with an urban roof garden, catering for both professionals and families alike.”

A decision on the application is due in January 2018 and, if granted, Mesari said the building would likely be complete by April 2019.
