The latest proposals for Twickenham Riverside are set to be published online next week by Richmond Council as well as exhibited at York House.

The long-awaited redevelopment has been in the pipeline for two years and has creative input from residents and businesses.

The council is now seeking feedback on the designs ahead of the planning application which is to be submitted by Christmas.

Richmond Council's cabinet member for environment and planning, councillor Pamela Fleming said: “We have come a long way since the original proposals and I believe that the latest designs really incorporate what we have heard from residents.

“Making the Twickenham Riverside a destination for residents and visitors, bringing life to the Embankment and River in a sensitive way is vital for the Town.”

She added: “I hope that throughout the consultation, residents and businesses will have their say on these proposals and help us move forward with transforming a site that has been derelict for over 35 years.”

The designs retain ideas that received support in previous consultations which include a colonnade at King Street, convex steps leading from the Embankment and landscaped level access from the Embankment up to Diamond Jubilee Gardens as well as seasonal storage units – small boathouses – on the Embankment frontage.

Areas that were developed since the last consultation include a new square on the corner of Water Lane and the Embankment in response to public feedback that the riverside building in the previous designs was too big and the request for more public, open space.

The style of architecture has also been developed to reflect the variation of styles in Twickenham, recognising the influence and importance of the River Thames and local culture in the history and future of the town.

New cycle storage has also been proposed along Water Lane, the Embankment and around the square, in addition to provision for the new residential and commercial facilities in the under podium car park.

Residents will be able to view the designs online from 4pm on October 9 and at the exhibition at Clarendon Hall, York House, on the following dates:

• Monday, October 9, 6pm to 8.30pm

• Thursday October 12, 6pm to 8.30pm
