A move date for Morden Post Office has now been confirmed.

The new branch will open just 250 metres away at Londis in Crown Lane, Morden on Monday, September 11 and the old branch at Morden Court Parade in London Road will close at 1pm on Saturday September 9.

The new branch will be open seven days a week and increase previous opening hours by 51 hours a week.

This comes in an effort to modernise the country's network of 6000 branches.

Morden Post Office will come with three serving positions, two modern screened counters and a Post Office serving point at the retail counter offering selected services during shop opening hours.

It will open from 9am – 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday, with selected Post Office products and services available from the retail counter during shop opening hours which are 5am - 8pm, Monday to Friday; 5am – 7.30pm Saturday and 5am - 1pm on Sunday.

Local residents and small business customers will be able to access a wide range of Post Office and mails services, including international parcels, Special Delivery, Local Collect and home shopping returns, make cash withdrawals from a Post Office Card Account, send funds abroad using Moneygram, pay bills, buy holiday money, get insurance, mortgages, savings and top up mobile phones.

Suzanne Richardson, Regional Network Manager said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office.”
