A Raynes Park man suspected of belonging to an organised crime group involved in moving Albanian nationals into the UK from Europe has been charged.
He was one of three men detained by officers from the National Crime Agency (NCA) and Belgian police in a series of co-ordinated arrests on August 1.
Jetlind Gjyriqi, 31, of Approach Road, was charged with people smuggling alongside Scott Downie, 31, and Anthony Corkovic, 28, both from Salford.
All three will appear from custody at Manchester Magistrates' Court on September 1.
Two other men arrested in the UK were released under investigation.
Officers in Belgium also arrested three Albanian men and recovered six Albanian men from the back of a lorry which was en route to the UK.
Jane Lloyd, NCA branch commander, said: "Clandestine people smuggling is a priority threat for the NCA and we do everything we can with partners to prevent it."
