Next month, between August 5 and 28, there will be “significantly” fewer South West Trains services while work to extend platforms at Waterloo Station is carried out.
The aim is to introduce longer trains to provide more space for passengers.
Stations in or around London, such as London Waterloo, Clapham Junction, Vauxhall and Wimbledon are expected to be exceptionally busy during this time.
SWTs “strongly advises passengers to avoid travelling during the busiest morning and evening periods if possible”.
Along with fewer services, calls to certain stations will stop altogether and some journey times will be extended due to diversionary routes to reach London Waterloo.
Details of weekday affected trains:
- No services will be operating between Leatherhead and Dorking.
- Buses will replace trains running between Worcester Park and Chessington South.
- Some services will not call at Vauxhall. Passengers should change at London Waterloo.
- Earlsfield will be closed on weekdays until 10am and between 4.30pm and 7.30pm.
- No direct service between London Waterloo and Hampton Court between 9.30am and 4pm.
- No services will call at Queenstown Road
- Services to Kingston will be diverted via Richmond. Passengers for Earlsfield, Wimbledon, Raynes Park and New Malden should use alternative services.
- No services will call at Norbiton
- Details for train services on weekends during the period, including the bank holiday weekend, will be updated closer to the time.
- Bicycles will be restricted further than usual.
