An eight-year-old from Mitcham has been raising money to give to Grenfell Tower victims.

Amylou Bickel from Phipps Bridge saw the catastrophe unfold on the news, according to mum Kimberley. Amylou said she wanted to donate her pocket money to victims, and give away brand new toys such as teddy bears and books.

Kimberley said: "She doesn't want anything out of it, and it's all off her own back. I don't know what came over her.

"She gets pocket money for helping out with her baby brother, and had about £25 at the time.

"She had previously cut off her hair for the Little Princess Trust and said she wanted to do it again to get people to donate money for Grenfell. Since word got out, we have had loads of people coming to Mitcham to give her donations."

The Cranmer Primary School pupil, who is nine this month, will cut five inches of her hair to raise more money. So far, she has raised around £160 and is using the money to buy gift cards for victims and survivors.

The hair will also be donated to Little Princess Trust, a UK charity that provides real hair wigs free of charge to boys and girls who have lost their own hair from cancer.

Proud mum Kimberley said: ""People want to give her something for raising the money. Someone bought a voucher for her, but straight away she asked to give it to the victims. She said she has a home and they have nothing, she says she doesn't need anything but they do.

"She's quite a shy little girl but she even stood up and explained to my Slimming World group what she was doing, and she was so pleased about it afterwards."
