The chief executive of the Care Quality Commission praised a a Wimbledon care home last week.
Sir David Behan CBE, chief exec of the health and social care watchdog, chose Arthur House, for a visit on National Care Home Open Day - and praised the quality of care delivered there.
Arthur House, a care home for older people with dementia run by Priory Adult Care was rated ‘outstanding’ by the CQC in May.
Sir David said: “Nicholas Kee Mew (the home manager) and his staff have secured an ‘outstanding’ rating following our inspection, and I know just how outstanding the care has got to be to get such a rating.
“The media covers care homes when things go wrong and they get too little attention when things go right.”
Mayor of Merton Marsie Skeete also visited residents.
National Care Home Open Day is a UK-wide initiative. Thousands of care homes across the UK take part, welcoming the public and arranging events and activities designed to create a lasting link between the care home residents and their local communities.
