A supermarket in Mitcham which closed due to a mice infestation is about to re-open.
Iceland, in Upper Green West, was served with a hygiene emergency prohibition notice at the end of March.
According to the notice, which was pinned outside the store, there is an “infestation of mice serious enough to result in the actual contamination of food, as granola and rice crispy squares have been gnawed.
“There is a significant risk of contamination due to mice droppings. There is poor pest proofing.”
A spokesperson for Iceland said that the store has been refurbished, and has a new look and feel which will create a "surprising" experience for customers when it opens tomorrow (June 8).
There will be a new branded alcohol section and 10 per cent more products than before, including an extended Slimming World range.
Mitcham is the tenth Iceland store in the UK to be refurbished.
