A man has been killed on a building site in Wimbledon ‘while working with concrete’.

The man, in his mid 20s, was fatally injured at the building site in Cranbrook Road, off Worple Road, on Monday afternoon.

The Met Police were called to Cranbrook Road by the London Ambulance Service at 1.45pm.

A spokesman for the Met Police said: “A man in his mid 20’s had been reported injured while working with concrete.

“Despite attempts to revive him, the man was declared dead at the scene.

“Next of kin have been informed. The Health and Safety Executive have been informed.

“Road closures are in place.”

The police would not comment on how the man had been injured while working with concrete.

Councillor Edward Foley passed the scene, and said: "There's a tent covering maybe a body, and a skip lorry. It looks more serious than expected, sadly. 

"It could be a concrete mixer lorry. Difficult to stop or look, but so sad."
