A group of children from Wimbledon have been getting into the festive spirit by making natural Christmas decorations.
The festive session of the Wimbledon Common Nature Club saw children and their families walking through Wimbledon Common to find natural materials, including fir comes, fallen logs, leaves, seed heads and ivy.
These were then transformed into wreaths, table decorations and Christmas cards, with the children also getting stuck into making oranges studded with cloves.
Club leader, Auriel Glanville, said: “We had a really great creative morning devising decorations picked up from Wimbledon Common.
“The children then enjoyed festive mince pies.”
The Natural Seasonal Decorations session was held on Sunday, December 4. The Wimbledon Common Nature Club’s next session will be all about microscopes and held on Sunday, January 8.
The Nature Club is supported by the London Wildlife Trust. For more information about the club, contact Auriel Glanville on auriel.glanville@btopenworld.com.
