Police are searching for two men after a man was threatened at knife-point in Mitcham.

The 49-year-old victim parked his car in Northumberland Gardens, Mitcham, when two men approached his on a moped at about 8pm on Friday, October 21.

As they came closer the pillion passenger got off the moped, opened the passenger and searched the car while threatening the driver with a flick knife.

The man got out of the car and the second robber approached him and demanded that he hand over his wallet and mobile phone.

The pair then drove off towards Commonside East, Mitcham, with the victim’s wallet, phone and laptop.

Two men matching the description of the robbers were seen in a nearby food and wine store in Danbrook Road, Norbury, on Monday, October 31, where they used the cards from the man’s wallet before they were blocked.

The first man was described as black, 5ft 6ins and being of slim build. He was seen wearing a blue padded jacket over a grey tracksuit and black shoes.

The second suspect was described as white, wearing a black jacket with a fur-edged hood over a grey hooded top, black jeans and black and white trainers. He also wore a black rucksack.

No arrests have been made in connection with the robbery and enquiries continue.

Detective Constable Paul Kossowicz, from Merton CID, said: "We are keen to identify the two men shown in the CCTV footage so we can speak to them about the incident. We would also urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us."
