Two men have been released on bail after a huge armed police operation yesterday caused by what turned out to be plastic toy guns.
Armed police were called to Wimbledon train station to reports of a man believed to be in possession of a firearm on a train from Clapham Junction just before 9am on Tuesday, August 16.
Police then moved to Lower Downs Road at around 9.30am and then into Dennis Park Crescent, where a 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and possession of a class B drug at 10.47am.
A second man hunted by police was arrested at 7.30pm in Kingston on suspicion of possessing a firearm.
No further action is being taken against the first man for firearms offences. He has been bailed on suspicion of possessing a class B drug until September 1.
The second man has been bailed on suspicion of possessing a firearm until September 13.
