Two men who were arrested after a bloody machete fight believed to have involved around 15 young people have been re-bailed until September.
The fight in Mitcham town centre saw a 16-year-old to be taken to hospital with stab wounds to his leg after it began outside Barclays Bank in Montrose Gardens on May 23.
Emergency services were called to reports of “a large fight involving youths with machetes” at 3.45pm, and police later confirmed that around 15 people aged 16-20 were thought to have been involved.
Two 18-year-old men were arrested in London Road, Mitcham later that day. They were originally released on bail until Wednesday, July 20, but have now been re-bailed until Thursday, September 1.
An ‘exclusion zone’ was put in place around Mitcham town centre for 48 hours following the fight, allowing police to order anyone engaged in, or suspected of being engaged in, anti-social behaviour, crime or disorder to leave the area.
