Raynes Park is now home to its very first budget hotel, after the opening of a Travelodge just in time for this summer’s Wimbledon tennis tournament.

The 86 room hotel has created 18 new jobs in the area and can be found close to Raynes Park station, on the corner of Coombe Lane and Amity Grove.

Hotel manager, Chris Brewes, said: “I am delighted to be managing the first budget hotel in Raynes Park.

“The hotel has got off to a flying start as there is a desperate need for good quality and value accommodation within the area.”

However, anyone hoping to drive to the hotel should try and arrive early, with just 38 onsite parking spaces located next to the hotel available on a first come first served basis.

Wimbledon Times:

The official opening of the hotel was attended by the mayor of Merton, Councillor David Chung, and held on Wednesday, May 4.

Cllr Chung said: “I am delighted to see Travelodge growing its presence in Merton, and I have been very impressed with the facilities on offer.

“This is the first Travelodge in Raynes Park, and is ideally located to attract both business users and tourists to the area.”

The budget hotel is the second of its kind in Merton, with another Travelodge located in Epsom Road, Morden.
