There has been traffic gridlock in Gap Road, Plough Lane and Alexandra Road in Wimbledon today as emergency diversions were put in place.
Drivers have reported traffic chaos to the Wimbledon Guardian's Twitter and Facebook pages this morning after suffering miles of tailbacks through Wimbledon today.

A Merton Council spokeswoman said emergency diversions were in place in the Alexandra Road, Gap Road and Plough Lane areas by UK Power Networks because of a cable fault.
Some bus services have been diverted down Queens Road towards the town centre.
The traffic misery is on top of roadworks in Kingston Road this week.

From yesterday: Updated: Gas works close Kingston Road between Hartfield Road and Gladstone Road for the rest of the week
Delays continue today on the A238 Kingston Road both ways between A298 Bushey Road (Raynes Park) and A24 / Merton High Street (Colliers Wood).
Gas distribution company SGN are working to connect a house in Kingston Road to their gas network, and have closed Kingston Road eastbound from its junction with Hartfield Road to Gladstone Road.
A UK Power Networks spokesperson said: "Engineers are working as quickly as possible to complete emergency repairs to an underground cable in the Gap Road area of Wimbledon. "We apologise to all those who have been affected by traffic delays today and we are aiming to complete the works tomorrow. The work is essential to maintain reliable electricity supplies in the area."
