Parts of Kingston Road near to south Wimbledon tube station will be closed from today owing to gas works.
Gas distribution company SGN are working to connect a house in Kingston Road to their gas network, and have closed Kingston Road eastbound from its junction with Hartfield Road to Gladstone Road.
Drivers travelling westbound should be unaffected.
Diversions are in place for anyone wishing to travel towards Merton High Street via Hartfield Road, The Broadway and Merton Road.
Spokeswoman for SGN, Hannah Brett, said: "All being well, we will complete this work and remove the lane closure by the end of the week.
"We apologise to Wimbledon residents and motorists for any inconvenience our work may have caused."
