A husband and wife from the Mitcham Eastfields have appeared in court charged with fundraising for the purposes of terrorism.
Mohammed Iqbal Golamaully, 47, and his wife Nazimabee Golamaully, 45, of Middle Way, on the border of Streatham and Mitcham Eastfields, have been jointly charged with one count of fundraising for terrorism on or before August 13, 2014.
The charge is contrary to Section 15 (3) of the Terrorism Act 2000, which defines a fundraising offence as inviting others to provide money or property, receiving money or property or providing money or property to be used for the purposes of terrorism.
The couple appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday, May 3, after being charged on Wednesday, April 27.
They were bailed to appear again at the Old Bailey on Friday, May 13.
Mrs Golamaully was arrested by officers from the MPS Counter Terrorism Command on April 2, 2015. Her husband was arrested on December 8, 2015. Both have been on police bail while the investigation continued.
